First of all this is decent choice for peoe who're looking for smartphones within 10k INR with standard specs. I've been using the phone for little over 2 months and I'm quite satisfied with it. Previously i had the bad impression on low end/entry level Samsung smartphones as they tend to hang a lot and with no decent features or price:performance ratio. But this phone proved to be one of Samsung's best entry level sets. Before i make any further comment i should clarify the specs of the modle SM-G360H/DS does not go at par with the specs mentioned in most of the sites. The original specs are:
1) ARM cortex A7 quad core processor @ 1.2ghz
2) 1gb RAM(952mb usable)
3) Mali 400 GPU
4) 2000mah battery(can also be fitted with a 2600mah battery)
5) Onboard 8gb memory(of which 2.50gb is reserved for system purpose)
These are the basic specs that needs to be kept in mind. The set comes with android kitkat 4.4.4. With 1gb ram the set works smoothly with very little/negligible lags(while incoming mass messages in whatsapp). Gpu performance is quite imressive, ran games like riptide gp2, temple run oz, the sims 3, asphalt 8 airborne, rail rush, etc in high graphics with no lags. There were lags with 1080p blu-ray .mkv videos occasionally when played with onboard video player, but it gave no lags when played with vlc media player. The onboard music player-google music player, is somawhat below average, the music quality is average(as compared to my previous lumia 620), but there?s an alternative player which is available on google play store-PowerAmp player which improves quality greatly. The phone does not have any inbuilt battery saver, however it features the UPS(ultra power saving) mode, which extends battery life considerably but greatly limits functionality. Since it comes with kitkat 4.4.4 non google applications can be now transferred to the SD card.
Since its an entry level phone, it lacks many tweak options for various apps and the OS itself. For example:
1) The size of the widgets cannot be changed
2) No light sensor, so no auto brightness
3) No onboard battery save option(although theres Ultra Power Saving-UPS mode which extends battery life considerably but limits functinality drastically)
4) Average pixel density
5) Few bugs(seldom appears) with the keyboard
6) Google play music will not open fully when a random sng is played directly from SD card(touching anywhere on screen will terminate the temporary sound player)
7) No onboard photo edit application
These are most of the occasional troubles one might face, now for the better part:
1) Quite maneuverable, slim
2) Smooth functionality for the most part
3) Virtually no issues with games or videos played
4) Satisfactory battery performance for a full working day(with internet turned off when not needed, fair bit of browsing(3g) and chats, watching videos, taking pictures, listening to songs for an hour or so, about an hour or 2?s talk, fair bit of gaming, etc(tested with battery doctor))
5) Huge application support
6) 64gb-128gb external storage support
7) Most of the applications can be disabled if not needed, thus increasing battery perfomance
So in a nutshell the phone is quite good but comes with a price too high for its class- 9600 INR. There are other great choices in this range such as the redmi 4g note, Zenfone 5, lumia 535, etc. Core prime is definitely a great improvement over the much hated core 2 and lives up to the expectations.
